Corporate Event Venues in Fitzroy
Some work milestones call for more than a cake in the staff kitchen and a group email.
At The Rochey, our pub has corporate event venue spaces to give your team a proper night out. That might be a long dinner with clients by the fire, or a full floor takeover with your own bar, sound system and a dance floor waiting once the speeches are done.
We’ve been pouring pints on Johnston Street since the 1970s, and our events team runs functions here every week. Tell us what you’ve got in mind and we’ll look after the food, drinks and running order. That way, whoever organised it all gets to enjoy the night as well.

Take Over The Green Room
Upstairs at The Rochey, the Green Room is a fully private corporate function venue with an entire floor to itself.
Guests can wander up through the pub, or use the private George Street entrance and head straight upstairs without going near the front bar. Two connecting rooms look out over Johnston Street. The offshoot lounges give people a quieter corner for a proper conversation, which is handy when half the team wants to talk shop and the other half has already spotted the disco ball.
There’s room for up to 120 guests at a cocktail-style event, or 50 around the table for a sit-down dinner. That’s enough for the whole company, or just the department that had a cracking year.
Speeches, Slides and Sound Covered
The Green Room has a built-in sound system, screens and AV equipment. The CEO’s speech, the awards and the slideshow of the year’s best moments all come together without anyone needing to hire gear. Once the formalities wrap up, the DJ equipment takes over.
Send us your running order when you book and we’ll have everything set up before the first guest walks in.
A Bar of Your Own
You get four taps, cocktails, and a full range of house and top-shelf spirits, all without anyone queuing downstairs mid-conversation.
Our team can put together a drinks package around your budget and how long you’d like the bar to run. That way there are no awkward surprises when the tab comes in.
Food That Keeps the Party Going
For a standing event, the kitchen sends out bites people can eat without putting their drink down. Heartier plates follow, so nobody’s hunting for a kebab on the way home.
Prefer to sit everyone down? A set menu turns the night into a proper feast, built on the same honest pub cooking that’s kept locals coming back to the dining room downstairs.
Our events coordinator can help you work out quantities for your headcount. Menus and dietary requirements are locked in five days before your event, giving the kitchen time to prep.
Bring a Bit of Your Business
The Green Room has plenty of old-world character on its own, but you’re welcome to bring touches of your business too. Branded signage, banners, name tags or a product on display are all ways to make the room feel like yours for the night.
Planning something bigger? Run it past our team first and we’ll let you know what works.
Corporate Events We Host at The Rochey
Every team celebrates a little differently, and a good corporate event venue in Fitzroy should be able to flex to suit. Here’s what we see most often.
-
June is the month to close the books and open a tab. As an EOFY party venue, The Rochey has options for every size of team.
The Green Room suits a big all-staff send-off. Smaller groups can settle into the Long Dining Room, where three fireplaces take the edge off a Melbourne winter.
-
December dates go quickly, so it pays to lock yours in early. If you’re comparing work Christmas party venues, our Beer Garden is built for a summer afternoon. It has a fully automatic roof for whatever the weather decides to do, TV and projector screens, plenty of greenery and a mural by local artist Kat Tillman.
For a night that runs late, the Green Room’s dance floor usually wins the vote.
-
Launching something new or hosting a networking night? The Green Room’s standing layout gives guests room to mingle, while the screens and sound system handle the formal part of the evening.
Our cocktail function venue also has one handy extra. The private entrance means your guests arrive straight into your event, rather than squeezing past a busy front bar to find you.
-
Not every work event needs a full floor. The Long Dining Room seats up to 25 for an à la carte meal or a set menu, with the main bar and beer garden right next door.
Over by its own fireplace, the Bowie Back Bar is a semi-secluded corner for groups of up to 25 after drinks and canapes. It’s an easy pick for Friday knock-offs, a long-overdue farewell or a relaxed catch-up with clients.
See Past Work Parties
A floor plan only tells you so much. These photos give you a better feel for what a night here actually looks like, from packed dance floors upstairs to long lunches by the fire.
