Our pub in Fitzroy has hosted Johnston Street’s celebrations since the 1970s. You bring the guest list, and our events team will help with the rest, from the drinks to the canapes to the moment the music gets turned up.
The Green Room: A Cocktail Function Venue Upstairs
Taking up the entire first floor, the Green Room is a private cocktail function venue for up to 120 guests. Two connecting rooms overlook Johnston Street, and offshoot lounges give anyone who’d rather sit and chat somewhere comfy to land.
Guests can come up through the pub, or slip in through the private George Street entrance and head straight upstairs. Either way, once they’re up there, the floor is all yours.
Your Own Private Bar
Four taps, a cocktail list, and a full range of house and top-shelf spirits, all poured just for your guests. Our team can build a drinks package around your budget and how long you’d like the party to run. That could mean cocktails from the first round, or beer and wine with a few spirits on standby.
Canapes and Party Food
A good cocktail party runs on a steady flow of food. The kitchen sends out small bites early, then heartier plates as the night goes on, so nobody has to slip away for dinner.

Music, Lights and a Disco Ball
The Green Room comes with a decked-out sound system, DJ equipment and a dance floor beneath the disco ball. Bring your own DJ, or keep the music low for the early drinks and turn it up once everyone’s had a round or two. There are screens on hand too, if a toast comes with a slideshow.
Make It Feel Like Your Party
Flowers, signage, balloons and table touches are all welcome. For anything more elaborate, check with the team first, as a few items like candles and confetti have restrictions upstairs.
